Charlene has been teaching dance and cheer throughout San Diego County for over six years. She began a recreational and after school dance and cheer program, Charlene's Dance N Cheer (CDC), so she could share her experience and love of dance and cheer to children. She always strives to give her students the highest quality classes where they learn so much while having fun.
Charlene began dancing at the age of five in Ewa Beach, Hawaii, doing tap, ballet, cheer, and hula. When she moved back to San Diego, she focused on classical ballet, studying at New West Ballet Theatre under the direction of California Ballet Company alum, Eugenia Keefer, where she continues to perform and teach today. Highlighted roles with New West include the Fairy Godmother in Cinderella, the Mad Hatter in Alice in Wonderland, the Dew Drop Fairy, Spanish Chocolate, Dancing Doll, and Merliton in the Nutcracker, and Odile, the Black Swan in Swan Lake.
Charlene was a member of the Varsity cheer squad in high school and named UCA (United Cheerleader's Association) "All-Star." In college, she was a member of the California State University San Marcos Women's Dance team. In 2008, Charlene had the opportunity to perform at Copley Symphony Hall with California Ballet Company and the San Diego Symphony for their Holiday Pops Concert.
Charlene earned her B.A. in Criminology and her M.A. in Sociology from California State University San Marcos. She enjoys spending her free time with her husband, 10 month old son, family, and friends.
Kamie has been dancing since she was a very young 2 year old. She started in Fresno, Ca. and then moved to the Central Coast where she had the honor to take lessons from Pat Jackson whom was a Solid Gold Dancer. She loved Dance, Singing, and Acting so much she decided to try and make a real profession out of it so her parents and her moved to Los Angeles where she did many commercials and modeling jobs. Through her journey she has been blessed to have danced with such greats as Ben Verene, Paula Abdul, Mitzi Swayze, Bob Fosse, Bernadette Peters, and many more amazing dancers and choreographers. Since her move down to San Diego 7 years ago she has enjoyed keeping up with her dance while taking classes at Culture Shock and performing in the Student Choreography Shows at SDCC. She studied Early Childhood Education in College and has really enjoyed teaching not only the Elementary Kids, but also the Toddler Classes. She is looking forward to growing with Charlene's Dance and Cheer as she plans on being around for a Long Time!
